EXPLORATIONS
IN MONOTYPE
WORKSHOP
A monotype is a one-of-a-kind print where
the ink or other pigment, such as watercolor or oil paint, is
applied directly to a printing plate and then transferred to
printing paper by running the plate and dampened paper through
an etching press or by some other pressure sensitive
method.
Students
will learn basic inking techniques, both abstract and
realistic, including subtractive, additive, color blending,
and painterly techniques, using water-based inks or oil
paint. All
materials will be supplied except paper and paper towels. Paper will be
available for purchase at cost.
Limit 6 students. March
