Art In The Park 5-K Fun-Run
Please join us for Mattawoman Creek Art Center's 1st annual “Art in the Park 5K Fun-Run"! The walk/run course will traverse the beautiful natural surroundings of Smallwood State Park, situated on the Mattawoman Creek. “Art in the Park 5K” is a great way to enjoy the Spring weather, explore nature, and appreciate beautiful works of art created by local artists in the D.C. metro area. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Strollers are allowed but must follow the runners. No pets are allowed. Awards and refreshments will follow at the conclusion of the race. Participants are welcome to visit the art gallery and gift shop. Proceeds from the 5K registration and any gift shop purchases benefit the Mattawoman Creek Art Center, a 501 c (3) non-profit organization. Lunch items including hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, chips, and soda, will be available for purchase from the Smallwood State Park concession stand and can be enjoyed in their picnic area. DATE: Saturday, May 16, 2020 (Rain date: Saturday, May 23)
PLACE: Smallwood State Park, 2750 Sweden Point Road, Marbury, Maryland
TIME: Race is from 10am - 12pm Art Center & Gift Shop will be open in the afternoon and all are welcome to visit and shop.
COURSE INFORMATION: We will not be using chip timing; this is a FUN RUN. The majority of the course will be on paved surfaces, and may include a long foot bridge crossing over wetlands.
ADULT ENTRY FEE: $25* on or before April 18th. LATE REGISTRATION: $30* after April 18th (shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants)
AGE 10 & YOUNGER ENTRY FEE: $15* on or before April 18th. LATE REGISTRATION: $20* after April 18th (shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants)
ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: Entry to the park & Art center, souvenir T-shirt (if registered on or before April 18th), water stations & snacks *NO REFUNDS FOR THIS RACE
AWARDS: Winners will receive medals and/ or trophies, gift cards (top male and female overall), and certificates. There will be 7 different age group categories; 42 custom race medals - 6 in each division (3 male/3 female); and trophies for top male and female overall.
8:00-9:45 – same day registration and pick up of race packets (Race packets may be picked up the day before the race if preferred, at Mattawoman Creek Art Center from 11am - 4pm)
9:45-9:55 warm up for runners
10:00 5K run begins
10:10 5K walk begins
12:30 - 1:00 Awards
