About Us

The Mattawoman Creek Art Center (MCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating the creation, appreciation, and availability of the visual fine arts in Southern Maryland. Located in Smallwood State Park in Marbury, Maryland, MCAC overlooks the scenic Mattawoman Creek. MCAC's spacious and light filled gallery displays eight to ten art exhibitions each year. Exhibits are usually on display for five weekends and include a reception. MCAC is open and free to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 am - 4:00pm.  The State Park entry fee is waived for Art Center members and visitors.

OUR MISSION:

  1. ​Provide a space for the advancement of the visual fine arts.​

  2. Encourage artists, of all levels of experience, in the pursuit of their art.​

  3. Facilitate a vibrant and enduring engagement between the general public and artists to foster a stronger appreciation of culturally diverse art.​

  4. Engender a sense of community, and facilitate a free exchange of ideas, among artists.​

  5. Recruit, retain, and engage actively participating members business partners, and government organizations to support the mission.
